Visa Acceptance

The visa entry is now delivered at the Nouakchott international airport. Those that intend to enter into Mauritania through the Nouakchott international airport will get their visa at the airport.

Those that intend to enter into Mauritania through another point of entry will get their visa from the Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania to the United Nations in New York every working day. Visas are no longer delivered by the Consulate. The request must be submitted in person or by messenger. If the petitioner chooses to submit his or her request by messenger, the Permanent Mission cannot guarantee the mail service and will not assume any responsibility with regard to the loss of the document.

The Permanent Mission can deliver entry visas for a maximum period of twelve months. For the visa delivery, the following documents are necessary:

• Valid Canadian passport.
• Copies of the airplane ticket round trip.
• A reason for the trip: invitation letter (government, businesses, associations. ..) that can be confirmed by a Mauritanian authority or in certain cases by official Canadian services.
• Means of subsistence: equivalent resources of a minimum of 1,500 dollars Canadian per month.
• A recent photograph.
• A pre-paid return envelope.
